My team from the Texas Tech University School of Law was crowned champion at the 13th Annual National Entertainment Law Moot Court Competition, held this past weekend at Pepperdine University School of Law. Western State University College of Law finished a very close second at the 26-team tournament. Texas Tech defeated Southwestern Law School in the semifinals, with Western State taking out Baylor Law School. For Texas Tech, this is our second championship in the the past two years at Pepperdine, and third consecutive final round appearance in "the 'Bu."
The University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law went home with a plaque for the Best Petitioner Brief, and Southwestern did the same for its Respondent brief. Miriam Milstein of the University of San Diego School of Law was the Best Oral Advocate of the Preliminary Rounds, while Elizabeth Geary of Texas Tech was the Best Oral Advocate of the Final Round.
