Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law took home the top prize at this weekend's John Marshall Law School International Moot Court Competition in Information Technology and Privacy Law. Texas Wesleyan University School of Law finished second. The semifinalists were Stetson University College of Law (last year's champion) and UC Hastings College of the Law. Twenty-four teams entered.
Not surprisingly, Hastings won the Best Petitioner's Brief award, with SMU winning the Best Respondent's Brief trophy. (I say "not surprisingly" because the brief counts for 40% of each round all the way through, so winning Marshall with even an average brief score is next to impossible). Brian Sandor of Michigan State University College of Law was crowned Best Oralist. India's Gujarat National Law University won the coveted "Ambassador Round" bowl.
